Operations Dashboard

Operations Dashboard is a customized web application which is used by one of the Artin's telco customer to monitor and interact with various internal systems. It can be used at the same time by management as read only tool so they can have overview of their systems.

Whole application is written in Java using the Echo2 Ajax-based rendering engine. This allows creation of dynamical and rich web pages without any need of writing HTML and JavaScript. The core of the application is built on Spring Framework. Entire application may be hosted on any Java servlet container (application was developed on Apache Tomcat and is running on BEA WebLogic server in production environment).

This application provides frontends to various systems – most of them are based on Oracle database. It communicates with them using the Spring Framework DAO/JDBC package or Hibernate depending on the concept of the module. Combination of these two approaches is possible thanks to Spring Framework features. Communication with other systems is also done using Tibco Rendezvous, CORBA or XMLRPC.

The authentication module is using LDAP or Kerberos for authentication. Roles (permissions) stored in LDAP are used for authorization.

The application consists of several modules:

OMQore Monitor
This is complementary application to Artins OMQ Command Pod. It retrieves data from OMQore workflow system using XMLRPC and offers read only overview of status of OMQore workflows and services.

RSO Management
This module is a GUI frontend to special Qorus user service which enables write access to that system. It allows starting workflows and specific services. The GUI provides templates for creating orders by simply filling prepared forms or allows submission of own orders created using XML. These orders can be build into hierarchical structure which allows controlled execution of sequence of Qorus workflows or services.

Quality Statistics
GUI frontend that presents statistics data of traffic on different streaming servers stored in database in graphical form using graphs. It also offers possibility of export the required data. It allows combining input data from different sources into single graph.

Redrock
Redrock module provides dynamic access to database tables using parameterized views. It presents the data in two forms: classical table view or transforms it into more readable form of tree structure which allows more intuitive data modifications.

Redlands
This module allows user to view and search the data inside the database resources. Each resource is related to specific system (e.g. Singl.eView, HLR) and contains specific data (e.g. MSISDN, IMSI, ...). By adding various resources into user’s workspace you can get different overview of the whole system. When resource is connected it is possible to search it for data and synchronize it with the rest of the connected resources so you immediately see the context in which the searched parameter appears in the system (from the point of currently connected resources). The resources can be organized within one workspace in several ways. It is possible to have them as 'dialog' windows or they can be grouped together to different layers. Once a workspace is configured (all needed resources are connected and the layout is set up) user can save this configuration for later reuse.

Redcliffe
This module is an editor of data stored in Oracle Spatial RDF Store. It allows controlled editing/creating/deleting of data (triples) in the store based on different configurable models and rulebases. As a viewer it queries the store using SPARQL and offers faceted browsing capability. It has similar profiles functionality to Redlands – allows each user to has his own workspace configuration by setting different 'perspectives' which have their own filter and model/rulebases settings.
